Grating with Slip Resistant Coating
Holmberg Pedestrian Bridge
Project Location: Chattanooga, TN
Bar Profile: T16 Bar | .188" opening
The Holmberg Pedestrian Bridge, which spans Riverfront Parkway to connect Walnut Street to the Bluff View Art District, originally opened in 2005. However, continuous funding to repair the damage-prone, glass-paneled bridge, required the City of Chattanooga to seek a makeover that was aestetically pleasing and could withstand the test of time. In cooperation with Ross Glass & Aluminum, Hendrick Architectural retrofitted the bridge with its award-winning and proprietary Profile Bar grating panels.
Fabricated from 316 stainless steel, the grating uses T16 bars with 3/16" slot openings to ensure the bridge is ADA compliant. The grating also features a slip resistant coating in a fade pattern to provide maximum traction in all weather conditions. Hendrick also supplied additional support bars and custom brackets to meet the attachment requirements to the existing substructure.
