H-CLAD® MD Mounting System
Route 9 Library & Innovation Center
Project Location: New Castle, DE
Perforation Pattern: modified "austin"
Architect: Perkins + Will
A 21st century library and innovation center was designed to revitalize one of the most underserved communities in the state of Delaware. The bold and welcoming design transforms the area into a “must-visit” destination for community members. Perkins and Will called upon Hendrick to manufacture the building’s iconic, perforated metal panels – meant to symbolize “The Big Tree” that locals used to gather beneath.
The .190" thick aluminum cladding features a modified “austin” pattern with each panel comprising of a unique hole arrangement. Concealed fasteners and Hendrick’s H-CLAD medium duty mounting system secure the panels to the sub-framing. The panels are finished with a high-performance, 70% PVDF coating in cinna-gold dust to protect the building from environmental stresses.
