IMAGE-CLAD in Nashville, TN
Nashville Electrical Service 11th Ave Substation
Project Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Perforation Pattern: Custom
One of Nashville’s fastest growing neighborhoods is powered up thanks to a new electric substation. Supplying power for 400,000 homes and businesses in the Gulch and downtown districts, is Nashville Electrical Service’s 11th Avenue Substation. This innovative, award-winning 30,000 square-foot facility is located on 11th Avenue South, between Church Street and Haynes Avenue, and contains four transformers.
When architects and construction teams were selecting partners for this important project, they turned to Hendrick Architectural for IMAGE-CLAD metal panels. These panels are featured prominently in the building and parking garage. Chosen for versatility and design options, Hendrick’s perforated panels were used to create an artistic rendering of the message, “True power starts with unity.” Spectacular white and blue lighting shines brightly, accentuating the clean, modern design of the substation, and setting the facility apart. Specifically, Hendrick provided .190 inch thick, flat aluminum panels. Multiple hole sizes were used to create contrast in the panel and create the custom image seen covering the building. The new structure replaced a 70-year-old substation that was located about a block away.
Nashville Electrical Service’s 11th Street Substation has earned several industry awards, including a National Excellence in Construction® Eagle Award.
